Fantasy Football: Week 1 Sleepers
This first week of sleepers isn’t going to win your league for you. Because sleepers at this point are more about the guys you drafted who need a chance to develop. More likely than not this week you will start your top picks, since you invested highly on them. Nonetheless it’s always important to study the matchups. Here are some that I like. Also, check out 2011 Fantasy Football sleepers to see if one is available who you could roster before they breakout.
Rex Grossman: It’s no secret that I like Rex as a Fantasy Football QB. He put up nearly 900 yards and 7/4 in his three starts last year. The team’s OL is much improved and the run game should help him find his man Moss and Armstrong (who had two great games with Rex as starter).
Another: Colt McCoy
Derrick Ward: Foster’s availability for Sunday is uncertain and hamstrings shouldn’t be taken lightly (even if he plays, he could tweak it). There’s been much more hype about Ben Tate, and I’m one of his biggest fans, but it could be Ward who gets the bigger share this week. He has played in the system longer and did well in spot duty last year (6.3 ypc). Tate has the better long-term prospects, but would have to stay healthy, difficult for Auburn RBs.
Others: Willis McGahee, Jamie Harper
Nate Burleson: He has looked on top of his game this year, maybe the best he’s been in five year. He can continue to build off the momentum versus Tampa since Talib will shadow Calvin and their #2 can be beaten. CJ constantly draws the double team and Burleson thrives in the red-zone.
Others: Ocho, Amendola, Josh Morgan
Lance Kendricks: The Eagles are always among the worst at defending the TE and with a young inexperienced group at LB (although Jamar Chaney looks like a heck of a player) Kendricks should be able to settle in nicely during his debut.
Another: Jared Cook
