EA Sports has released their list of the Top 10 rookies by overall rating in Madden 2012 as well as the top ten rated rookie RBs and WRs.  These ratings are a starting point which will be updated and in certain situations increased to be more aligned with the player’s skill.  Without further ado, here are your Madden 12 impact rookies.

Top Ten Overall

  1. Patrick Peterson-82 OVR
  2. Marcell Dareus-82
  3. Prince Akukamara-81
  4. A.J. Green-80
  5. J.J. Watt-80
  6. Von Miller-79
  7. Mike Pouncey-79
  8. Mark Ingram-79
  9. Julio Jones-78
  10. Robert Quinn-78
My Take: Prince is the biggest surprise since rookie CBs tend to struggle off the bat.  Glad to see Quinn made it, but disappointed that Nick Fairley has been excluded.  He’s seen as a boom or bust pick and although he doesn’t have a high rating, hopefully he will have good quickness for his size with great potential. Think Peterson and Green should be rated higher.

Top 10 Rookie RBs

  1. Mark Ingram-79 OVR
  2. Ryan Williams-73
  3. Mikel Leshoure-72
  4. Kendall Hunter-71
  5. Daneil Thomas-70
  6. Shane Vereen-69
  7. DeMarco Murray-69
  8. Jacquizz Rogers-69
  9. Delone Carter-68
  10. Ridley-67
My Take: What I like about these rankings is that they resemble my NFL Draft RB rankings (which includes video).  What I don’t like is the separation between Ingram and Williams, and feel the class in general is underrated.  Although teams waited for RBs in the 2011 NFL draft, it should not take away from the solid class that 2011 class could turn out to be.  Want to know what Belichick’s missile out of the backfield has for a speed ratings.

maddTop 10 Rookie WRs

  1. A.J. Green-80 OVR
  2. Julio Jones-78
  3. Jonathan Baldwin-71
  4. Randall Cobb-70
  5. Greg Little-70
  6. Torrey Smith-69
  7. Vincent Brown-68
  8. Leonard Hankerson-67
  9. Titus Young-67
  10. Greg Salas-66
My Take: Think Baldwin and Little should be 73-75 given these ranks.  No problem with Brown over Hankerson as I like his game.  Glad to see my man Salas make the list, especially when so many are forgetting about him with the team drafting possession WR and special teamer Pettis before him.

Your a moron. Ingram was a game changer and the ratings aren’t based on what they did in college against an ACC defense. Its how they project the players to preform relative to other players in the league.

Wow. I love Ingram. I can’t believe there was even an question that he would be a first round pick. He was easily in my top 15. Williams projects well, he’s explosive, as does Ingram. Ingram more so as he’ll be running behind the best interior line in the league and one of the best offenses. Easy with the hostility, Saintsfan. Lots of people are skeptical about Ingram because of the injuries and stuff, but I’m not one of them.
