Quick Slant: Mayock to Save Thursday Night Football

Great news football fans, Thursday Night Football just got a lot better. “Save” might be a strong word but if you’re a dedicated viewer on Thursday nights then you know how painful last season had become.  I began to write this post about a month ago when it was first rumored that Mayock would join the crew, but I wanted to be sure it was official.  Today it was announced that not only Mike Mayock would join the booth but also Brad Nessler. Nessler will handle the play-by-play and Mayock will be the color commentator.

The pair will replace last season’s inept triumvirate of Millen, Theismann, and Papa. Mayock is a fan’s man. Explaining X’s and O’s with passion and insight.  Covering technique to personnel.  He has come a long way in the last few years since joining NFL Network. Meanwhile, Nessler has been a staple in collegiate announcing. I’ve always liked his voice and tone.  The two should be a dynamite combination.

They will make their debut Thursday November 10th when the Oakland Raiders travel to play the San Diego Chargers.
