2011 NFL Draft Wide Receivers (Top 10)

The first of my Top 10 Players by Positions lists. QB, RB, TE, O-Line, D-Line are on their way. Also, working on an article about how the rookie salary cap, which is inevitable, will affect the draft.
  1. AJ Green: There is no doubt in my mind that Green deserves to be ranked the #1 WR.  He is the most polished of all the receivers, he has the size, and he has the instincts. Although I don’t see him being a Top 5 receiver, I think he could easily surpass the underrated career of Donald Driver.
  2. Julio Jones: He wasn’t the most productive statistically playing at Alabama but he has proven to be worth the hype from day one. Unlike Green, there is potential that he become one of the best receivers in the game because of his physicality.
  3. Jonathan Baldwin: Baldwin gets the nod at #3 because he literally stands-out from the rest (6’4 228). Great size and the ability to sky for jump balls deep or on fades are his strengths. His weakness is that he struggles to get separation.
  4. Titus Young: True speedster who can also return punts.  Comparisons to DeSean Jackson are reaching, but there is little doubt he is one of the top five receivers in the NFL Draft.
  5. Greg Little: Great feet and hands for the former RB. Not being talked about enough, will be a steal if he goes later than the second.
  6. Leonard Hankerson: Rangy receiver who struggles vs. press coverage, needs to add bulk.
  7. Randall Cobb: QB, RB, and WR at KY has the skills that could make him a top slot WR.
  8. Torrey Smith: Seems a bit raw and too much of a straight-line runner. Sounds too much like Heyward-Bey for me to endorse him without seeing him play much.
  9. Vincent Brown: Diamond in the rough? Hadn’t noticed him until Bowl Season but has been really impressive with his fluidity in and out of cuts.
  10. Jerrel Jernigan: Speedy slot WR from Troy.

Just Missed: Greg Salas, Terrence Tolliver, Edmond Gates, Denarius Moore

Sleeper: Jeff Maehl-Oregon’s top WR was a college Wes Welker.
