Fantasy Football Playoff Pickups Week 13

He can help you win.

Brian Westbrook: For a few weeks I told people to stash Anthony Dixon because Frank Gore gets hurt every year.  Well, it took until Week 12 but Gore is now done but the season and the Ultimate Weapon, Brian Westbrook, will now be the #1 back. While Dixon will get some goalline carries and could be more involved in this gameplan this week,  Westbrook is the back you must add.  Dixon worth a look also.

Toby Gerhart: AP was injured last week and there is no guarantee he is going to play this week. Rookie Gerhart has looked more comfortable and impressive with each passing week.  He can certainly be a worthy pickup, and worth a speculative add.

Tashard Choice: Barber is out this week and Felix Jones is banged up as usual, finally putting Choice on the field.  I had a weird hunch, Garrett would start playing him a lot more but that hasn’t really happened.  Choice was a steal in the 4th round and always seems to produce.  You could do a lot worse than making Tashard your choice from the WW.

Jacoby Ford: Can no longer be ignored….Ford killed it once again and had four receptions for 108 yards and a TD and he also scored a return touchdown on the opening kickoff of the game.

Mohamed Massaquoi: A pickup now that Delhomme is back under center. The two have had solid chemistry this season. Obviously keep expectation tempered with this offense.

Danario Alexander: Talked about him before and for good reason, he’s talented.  Played only 20 snaps last week and still led the Rams in receiving with 95 yards.  We’ll see how much more he is slated to play this week before naming him a sleeper but AZ pass D gives up big plays.  Gibson would be a safer play .

Kevin Boss: The Giants are without Nicks and Smith for the foreseeable future, making Boss one of only two credible targets along with Manningham (if he’s available, get em).  Eli likes him deep, in the red zone, and all the time.

Others to Monitor:

  • Mike Hart: could return to replace ineffective Brown
  • Tony Moeaki: returned last week to score TD and has great matchups the next 2 weeks.

I picked up Westbrook during his romp of the Cardinals on MNF. But I have a feeling that Gore will be back next week and Westbrook will be reduced to a 3rd down back. Pity. It’s good to see Westbrook playing well again.

Gore is officially out for the year. The main competition will be from Dixon who is a red zone threat and led the NFL in rushing yards in the preseason. I think Westbrook was playing last night before Gore got hurt so he was part of the gameplan, will Dixon be more involved this week since they have time to prepare? Nevertheless, Westbrook is certainly the guy to get.
